Your purpose to start freelancing can vary greatly, whether it’s to gain more flexibility in your work-life balance, pursue a passion project, or achieve financial independence. Understanding your motivations will help guide your decisions as you embark on this journey.
Freelancing in digital marketing is a wide range of opportunities in the sector. The most famous :
SEO, social media marketing, content creation, blog writing, website development, and digital marketing consultation—and that’s just one part of the many freelancing opportunities this field offers.
So first you select your core niches. Every professional has their own main skill, so you must choose and select your skill first. If you’re confused about how to find your niche or core skills, don’t worry—there are plenty of ways to figure it out by looking at your past experiences and what you genuinely enjoy doing. Once you’ve decided on a business category based on your interests and areas of expertise, the next step is to establish a goal-oriented approach with clients. Most people struggle to get their first client.
How do I address that issue early on? I’m not using any platform to get freelance clients; I’m mainly focusing on my circle of clients.
What are the steps to find clients in the early stages?
-
Creating a network or community at the same time as your career starts—if you’re not creating a community, you can join a relevant niche community based on your interest (BNI, LinkedIn communities, or Facebook communities)—it will give you good network connections and get you access to the business owners.
-
- Use social media to introduce who you are, what your profession is, and what you can do for your clients. Personally, I mainly use WhatsApp status and Instagram. I’m posting content above. I say self-videoing and publishing it will help to get clients and also get referrals .
-
Active professional platforms LinkedIn and Premium Ground will notice you are part of the community and they will reach your content to a wider audience. Make a good network connection to the business owners and sales managers.
- Start cold calling and cold mailing.
Create a set of templates/scripts related to your service and prepare to directly approach owners and communicate what you can do for the business and how to get sales in their business. You remind me of one thing: your first client leads to your next client.
-
Not sell your service directly; sell their pain problem facing current business. Give a solution with your skill is the method I’m using as a freelance digital marketing strategist.
-
Use freelancing platforms and create your account and get clients. As my experience it is tougher to get the client in the early stage, I suggest the command above given method is more useful to get clients. some platform like Fiverr, Freelancer.com, upwork
